We caught up with Jason Grant, interior stylist, author and creative consultant to find out about his signature style, top styling tips for Winter and the inspiration behind The Room Project by Jason Grant.
1. How would you describe the design look and feel you’ve created, what was your inspiration?
For me the living room and the sofa is always the focal piece of furniture in this room. It is all about comfort. Despite being a stylist I don’t like things over styled. I like real spaces and for them to feel lived in. This was the intention of the look I created, a space that feels inviting and where you want to sit down. The sofa really is as comfortable as it looks!
2. Describe your signature style and the mood you have created in your lounge room at home?
My signature style is relaxed, laid back, casual and quintessentially Australian. It is showcased in Away at Home and Holiday at home, two books I have published.
3. What do you like most about the King Living sofa you styled?
The Jasper sofa is a classic style sofa, perfect for any home. It’s super comfortable and I love that this sofa can be reconfigured into many positions. It’s like 10 sofas in one!
4. What's your top styling tip?
Buy and decorate with what you love. Don’t be afraid to find your own style and embrace it! I think it’s important to style your space to reflect your personality and to create your very own unique space, and most of all have fun whilst you’re doing it.
5. What are the emerging trends for Winter?
Winter for me is all about layers. With the change of seasons we spend even more time indoors and on the sofa. It’s good to embrace the cooler months of the year and create a cosier home and think about texture and layers. This can be done by adding textiles and other soft furnishings to
your space.
6. What's the one item every living room should have?
A BIG comfy sofa. Let’s be honest, this is where we do most of our living. A great sofa is an important investment piece and something that sets the mood for the style of your space.
