Having shot various campaigns over the years with King Living, photographer Felix Forest has been a long-standing contributior, complementing the King brand with his European sensibilities and personal flair.
On the eve of King Living’s 40th Anniversary, Felix shared a personal story with the King Living team. Upon shooting a campaign with King, the acclaimed photographer discovered that it was not his first time to chance upon the brand. A couple of years ago, Felix secured a Sydney warehouse space, within which there was a well-loved, foam sofa. The creative soon realised after working with the brand that the piece was from King’s archive; the 1983 ‘Award’ sofa.
Following the discovery, King Living offered to reupholster Felix’s piece of King history. Selecting a lush forest-green bouclé, the refurbished sofa slots in with ease to his industrial studio. King Living’s reupholstery service has transformed a dated piece into a chic statement. Available in an extensive range of gorgeous leathers and fabrics to suit your home, there are a number of practical and lifestyle benefits with having removable tailored covers. An economical option to update furniture, many clients choose to alternate covers seasonally, to suit a new space or to add a personal touch.
King Living have built a reputation for solid steel construction, however the early designs rendered by David King himself are clearly relevant, enduring and forever stylish. The ‘Award’ sofa was King’s first modular sofa, a feature which is engrained in the King Living design process today.
In Felix’s own words, the ‘Award’ “has passed the test of time.”
