Interiors super stylist Jason Grant creates four very different bedroom looks, using the King Living bed collection
Interior stylist, author and creative consultant Jason Grant has been working with King Living’s bed collection to show how versatile their beds are – and how they can work with different decorating styles.
Jason and photographer Felix Forest were recently in the King Living studio in Sydney to create four different lived-in and dreamy bedroom looks, showcasing King Living's range of beds styled with In The Sac sheets, quilts and pillow cases. All items are 100% pure Belgium linen so their luxurious look combined with an ‘on trend’ colour palette perfectly complimented each bed style.
“ What I like best about the beds we selected is that they are all classic designs, and really do work in any space (and you can select from vast range of fabrics), one of the fun parts about working with King on this project is that I got to choose the fabrics for the beds – so much choice!”
This look features the slimline Neo bed, with its sleek, simple and low-to-the-ground design. “I kept things tonal, using variants of grey for this bedroom (with my bed linen and upholstery choices),” says Grant. “Grey is a modern favourite and works with everything and in just about any space - the perfect foundation shade. When it came to decorating, I chose more masculine undertones and kept the styling to a minimum. Sometimes the interiors world has a tendency to be a little too feminine! I kept things neat, clean and understated for a classic and timeless style.”
“In this bedroom, we were inspired by New York, but designed an atmosphere that evoked style hubs such as London, Paris or LA as well,” says Grant. “I wanted to create a sense of urban chic, injecting colour with artwork and occasional furniture for a lived-in luxe look. Everyone wants a super luxe bedroom so we used the dramatic wingback Symphony bed headboard (how great is this upholstered bed head – it’s a real statement piece!). And I fell in love with the green velvet in the occasional chair and cushions too.”
“For this bedroom we injected a contemporary country feel with some pretty pinks, complemented by the beautiful Musk linen quilt,” says Grant. “Featuring the Promenade Storage Bed, I love the natural linen fabric we used for upholstery. (I think this is my favourite bed.) The no-fuss design is simple and nice and low to the ground. The look is designed to evoke a feeling of escape, taking us away from the city for a weekend to create the perfect country getaway. Total relaxation.”
Grant is well known for his relaxed coastal style and this bedroom reflects his aesthetic. “No need to guess my inspiration… Bondi is my happy place!” he says, laughing. “This room is just like me, never far from the sea, lots of crisp white, with tan leather, soft blues and subtle neutrals. Consider this chambray Serenade quilted bed head to be like your favourite pair of jeans – it will go with anything. I use it as a neutral and feel it can work with a variety of looks, adding a subtle sense of sophistication and casual style. “
